Monument Mountain

Available filming location. Monument Mountain Reservation in Great Barrington is managed by the Trustees of Reservation. Covering 503 acres of forests, cliffs, peaks, and valleys it commands views that stretch to the Vermont border in the north and the Catskills to the west. Geologically unique it's jagged terrain is mainly composed of quartzite, a dramatic pale stone. Squaw Peak, the 1,642 foot summit, inspired a lyrical poem by William Cullen Bryant about a Mohican maiden who lept to her death from its rocky cliffs because of a forbidden love affair, the rock cairn where she was buried gave the mountain its name: "Mountain of the Monument."
