Roger Sherman, Florentine Films/Sherman Pictures

Roger Sherman founded Florentine Films with Ken Burns after they graduated from Hampshire College in Amherst, MA. He’s been making award winning documentaries for decades. A producer, director, cinematographer, still photographer, and author, Roger’s films have won an Emmy, a Peabody and two Academy Award nominations. Notable films include PBS American Masters Specials  Alexander Calder and Richard Rodgers: The Sweetest Sounds, as well as The Restaurateur, and Medal of Honor.

Mary Jo is a veteran of the television news business and founding partner of Client Cycle Marketing. She helps authors, speakers, artists, and consultants create platforms that generate massive on-line followings and multiple revenue streams.

Research from the University of Pennsylvania found that consumers are 70% more likely to purchase when a product or service is accompanied by a video. This seminar will explore many topics including; What kinds of videos should I make to attract, engage and convert to sales? How to work with a creative team and find the right videographer for my project. What do I need to spend? What types of videos get shared on social media & what a video’s shelf life?

Frederick U. Fierst, Esq., Fierst, Kane & Bloomberg LLP

Fred Fierst is a well-known entertainment, intellectual property, and licensing attorney with a worldwide clientele. Fred has counseled and represented the producers of dozens of animated television series and films and has handled all manner of negotiations and deals resulting in billions of dollars of sales in the interactive, television, film, toy, publishing and merchandising fields over the past more than 30 years. Credits include: Antiques Roadshow300, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Casper the Ghost, Olivia, Conan the Barbarian, and The Crow.

Barbara Newman is a creative strategist and writer with over 25 years building iconic global brands. She is a founding partner of BrandVisioning, a consumer research company and ideation company that does brand innovation and positioning with Glade, Slim-Fast, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Estee Lauder, Dannon and others. She was EVP Creative Director at Grey Advertising and President of RNCD, a New York Agency focused on the health and well-being brand sector.

Alfonso Santaniello, President/CEO, The Creative Strategy Agency. Founder and Chief Strategist of the Creative Strategy Agency, Inc. (tCSA), Alfonso utilizes digital strategy and communications to help his clients effectively communicate with their customers and potential customers. A western MA native, Alfonso started his marketing agency at the age of 24 and has worked with a vast number of companies ranging from startups to national businesses and from restaurant and retail chains to nonprofits and hospitals. He is also the Founder/Producer of Strictly Businews, a business web talk show that features the latest in business news, trends, events, and more.

Matthew Syrett is a producer and consultant living in Western Massachusetts.  He is best known for producing the Oscar winning documentary “Freeheld” and his work on the Clio winning short film “Selfie”, which was part of Dove’s Real Beauty Campaign in 2014. He had previously worked as the senior product manager of IMDbPro and social media for IMDb.com. Prior to his career in film, Syrett was a Vice President at Grey Advertising’s interactive division, and the head of product for the Linkshare Corporation in New York City.

Todd Irwin is the founder and Executive Creative Director of dc3, a brand innovation and transformation agency located in Brooklyn, New York. Todd has conceptualized and produced brand strategies, identities, and campaigns for a variety of leading global brands including Nikon, Verizon, Pepsi, Lacoste and Remy Martin, to name a few. He has also been featured in numerous publications such as PDN and ADWEEK.

Keynote Speaker – Visual Effects Pioneer and Academy Award winner, Douglas Trumbull

Legendary filmmaker and visual effects pioneer, Douglas Trumbull, currently works and resides in the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts.

He was one of the Special Photographic Effects Supervisors for 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) and went on to become the Visual Effects Supervisor for such classics as Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979), and Blade Runner (1982), each of which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Visual Effects.

Trumbull has been nominated for Academy Awards on five occasions, has received the American Society of Cinematographer’s Lifetime Achievement Award, and was a 2010 inductee to the Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame; He received the International Press Academy’s Tesla award in December 2011 and the Gordon E. Sawyer Award in February 2012, an honorary Academy Award given to an “individual in the motion picture industry whose technological contributions have brought credit to the industry”, as well as the Georges Méliès award from the Visual Effects Society in the same month.

He recently served as the Visual Effects Consultant for Terrence Malick on his film, “Tree of Life.” He just completed UFOTOG, a ten minute experimental demonstrative film which debuted at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival.UFOTOG has been created using our MAGI process, involving 3D, 4K, 120fps imagery.Trumbull Studios is now fully equipped and prepared to commence production of their first feature using MAGI, along with extensive virtual technologies and techniques on their stage.

Ken Gogel is a seasoned lawyer who has worked successfully represented companies in Western MA, across the state and nationwide. Julia Mintz, Documentary Filmmaker/Artist

Julia has worked on many of the country’s most celebrated documentary films including: Muscle Shoals which premiered at Sundance 2013, aired on PBS Independent Lens 2014, Love Free or Die, winner Sundance Jurors Choice 2012 for Independent Lens, Joe Papp in Five Acts, premiered Tribeca 2012 airing American Masters, CA State of Mind: Legacy of Pat Brown, aired on PBS 2012, reality series for PBS, Broadway or Bust, and Cindi Lauper still so unusual.

Julia post-produced and associate produced Soundtrack for a Revolution, about the civil rights movement, which premiered at Cannes and was nominated for Writers Guild, Producers Guild, and was short-listed for an Academy Award® 2009. Mintz also post-produced the film Nanking, which won a Peabody, Emmy® and Editorial Award at Sundance, aired HBO. Other projects include: The Life and Times of Frida Kahlo, Emmy® Award nominee; The Killer Within, Emmy® Award-winner; and Billy Strayhorn: Lush Life, Emmy® Award-winner

Mintz’s documentary currently in production The Jewish Partisans, tells the story of the resistance in Eastern Europe during World War II. Mintz is co-founder of Full Res Productions creating numerous video and multi-media projects for corporate and commercial clients

John is a talented visual effects supervisor and compositor and owner of Sandbox FX, a digital visual effects company specializing in feature film digital effects.
