    So you’ve got this fancy new smartphone or maybe an iPad 2 with advanced filmmaking capabilities and suddenly you realize that filmmaking has never been easier. The Berkshire International Film Festival and the Beacon Cinema are teaming up to present a different take on the film festival scene as part of the inaugural 10 x 10 on North festival scheduled to run February 16-26, 2012 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.

    On December 1, the Berkshire International Film Festival (BIFF) announced its call for entries for feature, documentary, and short films. Slated films will be selected by the end of March and announced in April.

    The seventh annual BIFF will be held May 31 – June 3, 2012 at the Triplex Cinema, the historical Mahaiwe Theatre, the Beacon Cinema, and other venues throughout Great Barrington and Pittsfield. The submissions deadline is March 1, 2012.

    Thursdays in July and August, the Norman Rockwell Museum presents Blue Sky & Beyond, a series of talks by prominent animators and film directors, plus other events in conjunction with the exhibition Ice Age to the Digital Age: The 3D Animation Art of Blue Sky Studios. The series is free with Museum admission; talks commence at 5:30 pm.

    In conjunction with its upcoming exhibition “’Ice Age’ to the Digital Age: The 3D Animation Art of Blue Sky Studios,” which opens on June 11, Norman Rockwell Museum will explore the art of animation this summer with a series of weeklong workshops for teens to be held during the month of July.

    I Hate You Dad, the new Adam Sandler film shooting in eastern Massachusetts, needs all types of people to be extras. Sande Alessi Casting of Los Angeles has scheduled casting calls over two weekends in Boston and on the Cape, looking for kids age 11 or older and adults of all ages, any ethnicity. No acting experience necessary.

    Calling all Scorsese wannabes!

    If you're a student filmmaker with a short of 10 minutes or less, you can submit it for consideration to be screened at the "Lucky 13th Season" of the Williamstown Film Festival, running this fall, October 21 - 30.

    Made in the Berkshires is Berkshire Theatre Festival's brand new festival of original works for page, stage and screen, taking place over two weekends in October at both The Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield and the Unicorn Theatre at BTF's Stockbridge campus. Made in the Berkshires will celebrate the richness and diversity of output by local artists with cutting-edge theatrical work, live music, film, short stories, and dance.

    C.P. Casting in Boston is seeking 13 - 20 year-old boys who resemble a young Adam Sandler for roles in his new film, I Hate you Dad. No experience is required for the roles of a young Adam Sandler at ages 13 and 18. The movie is expected to shoot in June.

    Casting calls will be held at the Boston Center for the Arts, 539 Tremont Street, on Saturday, April 22 from 11 am to 5 pm and on Sunday, April 23 from 9 am to 2 pm. Bring one non-returnable photo. The film will be R-rated.

     The Boston Film Festival is now accepting submissions for its 27th annual festival, which runs from September 16 - 22. The official deadline for submissions is June 10, 2011.

    Submissions will be accepted in the categories of Feature Length, Documentary, Short Subject, and Animation. Submission fees range from $30 - $60, with student fees ranging from $20 - $50.
